The Man Who Refuses to Slow Down
Most athletes are retired by 35. Mike O’Hearn is in his late 50s and still training like a champion, still on magazine covers and still inspiring millions of people online to lift, eat well and live with purpose.
Longevity has always been Mike’s message. So when a man who has spent more than four decades protecting his body says he believes in Dezawa MuseCells®, people listen. After three treatments at RejuvStem in Cancún, Mike has become one of the clinic’s most passionate advocates.
This is the story of why, and of a friendship that turned a clinic into something closer to family.
Who Is Mike O’Hearn?
Mike grew up on a farm in Washington State, one of ten kids. He started competing in bodybuilding, powerlifting and martial arts at 13 and was winning state titles by 15. What followed was one of the longest and most varied careers in fitness history.
| Area | Highlights |
|---|---|
| Bodybuilding | 4-time Mr. Natural Universe; voted one of the 12 greatest physiques of all time; Bodybuilding Hall of Fame, 2011 |
| Strength | 4 powerlifting championships; 2 Iron Warrior Strongman titles |
| Martial arts | 2 California Judo championships |
| Television | “Titan” on NBC’s American Gladiators (2008), the show’s only undefeated Gladiator; appearances on Workaholics, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Days of Our Lives |
| Film | Death Becomes Her (1992), Barbarian (2003), and Superman in the fan film World’s Finest (2004) |
| Training | Creator of “Power Bodybuilding,” a system blending strength work with methods built for longevity |
Today, a new generation knows him as the “Titan” of fitness social media, where his message is simple: train hard, train smart, and build a body that lasts.

The Cost of 40+ Years Under the Bar
Nobody lifts heavy for four decades without paying for it. Even with Mike’s discipline about recovery, mobility and nutrition, time and load add up.
- •Joints. Shoulders, knees, hips and elbows absorb thousands of heavy reps every year. Cartilage thins and tendons stiffen with age.
- •The spine. Heavy squats, deadlifts and strongman events load the back in ways few people ever experience.
- •Recovery time. At 25, soreness fades overnight. In your 50s, the same workout can take days to bounce back from.
- •Inflammation. Hard training creates small amounts of damage every session. Over decades, the body’s cleanup crew falls behind.
Mike has never been interested in slowing down. He’s interested in staying strong, pain-free and capable for as long as possible. That mindset is exactly what led him to regenerative medicine.
Three Treatments and Counting
One treatment can be curiosity. Three is a commitment. Mike has now completed three Dezawa MuseCells® treatments at RejuvStem, and each visit has deepened his belief in what this therapy can do for people who want to stay active for life.

Why Dezawa MuseCells® Fits a Longevity Mindset
Mike has spent his career looking for an edge that doesn’t cut corners. Dezawa MuseCells® appealed to him for reasons that line up with that philosophy:
- •Your body’s own repair system, amplified. MUSE cells occur naturally in the body. They are part of how we repair everyday damage, but they make up only about 1–5% of the body’s stem cells. Treatment delivers far more than the body can gather on its own.
- •Smart cells, not a shotgun approach. MUSE cells respond to the signals damaged tissue gives off and travel toward them. That makes them a strong fit for an athlete whose wear and tear is spread throughout the body.
- •A small, powerful dose. Clinical programs have used MUSE cell doses about one-tenth to one-fifteenth the size of typical mesenchymal stem cell doses.
- •A long safety track record. Donor MUSE cells have been given by IV to about 200 patients in clinical studies without HLA matching, with no rejection reported over 8+ years.
- •Clean and compliant. For a lifelong advocate of training the right way, it matters that this is a cellular therapy, not a performance drug.
Recovery, Cancún Style
Each visit pairs MUSE treatment with time in RejuvStem’s recovery suite, including the Human Regenerator™ cold plasma system and FireFly™ light therapy. Then comes rest by the Caribbean. For someone who rarely stops moving, that combination of advanced care and real downtime is part of the appeal.
More Than a Clinic: A Friendship Built in Cancún
Mike’s connection to RejuvStem runs deeper than treatment. He and RejuvStem COO John Merola are close friends, bonded by a shared love of training and a shared belief that the body can be pushed further, and helped to heal better, than most people think.
John understands the athlete’s side of this story firsthand. A lifelong bodybuilder himself, he first came to RejuvStem as a patient. Surgeons had recommended spinal fusion for herniated and bulging discs and scoliosis, and he chose stem cell therapy instead. That experience is why he joined the company, and why he connects so naturally with athletes like Mike.
Family Vacations, Not Just Appointments
What started as treatment trips have turned into family vacations. The O’Hearn and Merola families now travel and spend time together in Cancún: beach days, dinners, workouts side by side, and treatments woven into the trip instead of standing in the middle of it.
That says something about how RejuvStem works. Patients aren’t processed through a clinic and sent home. They’re welcomed, looked after and, often, brought into the family. For Mike, being able to bring the people he loves along on the journey is a big part of why he keeps coming back.

Why Mike Has Become an Advocate
Mike doesn’t put his name on things lightly. His reputation was built on decades of credibility with people who trust him to tell them what works. Here’s why he’s willing to stand behind Dezawa MuseCells® and RejuvStem:
- 1.He’s lived it. Three treatments aren’t a sponsorship photo op. They’re a personal investment in his own health.
- 2.It matches his message. Mike has always preached longevity: train in a way that lets you keep training. Regenerative medicine is the next step in that philosophy.
- 3.He trusts the people. He knows the team, he knows the physicians, and he knows John. That trust is earned in person, not online.
- 4.He wants others to have options. Too many lifters and athletes are told their only choices are pain pills or surgery. Mike wants them to know there’s more to explore.
- 5.It’s built on real science. Dezawa MuseCells® come from more than a decade of research that began in Professor Mari Dezawa’s lab in Japan, with published clinical studies in conditions such as stroke, heart attack and spinal cord injury.
Today, Mike serves on RejuvStem’s Brand & Publicity board, helping share the clinic’s story with athletes, celebrities and everyday people who want to keep doing what they love.
Strong for Life
Mike O’Hearn has spent his whole life showing that age is just a number when you put in the work. Now he’s showing that the work includes taking care of the body from the inside out.
Three treatments, a close friendship and family trips to Cancún later, his message hasn’t changed. It has only grown: stay strong, stay curious, and don’t settle for being told what your body can’t do.
